Intelligent gel attacks cancer

Date : 25 Jan 2016 |

A new injectable “biogel” is effective in delivering anti-cancer agents directly into cancerous tumours and killing them.

This technology, developed by researchers at l'École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS) and the University of Montreal Hospital Research Centre (CRCHUM).

The recipe for this promising biogel was developed by Sophie Lerouge and her team (ETS and CRCHUM) while Réjean Lapointe and his team (CRCHUM) tested the biogel in several in vitro models, including melanoma and kidney cancer.

If the trials are successful, this new approach could one day revolutionize treatment for many forms of cancer.

The technology is patent pending and available for out-licensing. For further details, please contact : Priyum Koonjul
