Aligo’s multidisciplinary team has extensive experience in business development and in the commercialization of technologies stemming from industrial and academic sectors. We have the expertise to work within a broad spectrum of technical domains such as energy, information technology and communications, drug development, medical technology, and chemistry. Together, our team members have solid track records in the development and transfer of technologies from universities and are accomplished in all aspects of commercialization, including venture capital investment, intellectual property protection, agreement negotiation, research, and sales and marketing.

ANNE-MARIE LAROSE

With a Master’s and a Doctoral degree in molecular and cellular biology from Université Laval and a Master’s degree in bio-industries from Université du Québec à Montréal, Anne-Marie brings almost twenty years of diverse experience in life sciences, in both research and business development. She began her career by participating in the startup, Geneka Biotechnology. She then worked as the commercial attaché to the Consulate of Great Britain in life sciences and biotechnologies and was a senior consultant for Innovitech before specializing in the development and commercialization of university technologies with Univalor. Before joining Aligo, she held the position of Director of Business Development at Héma-Québec.

Shahad is member of the Quebec Bar since 2010 and Legal Counsel at Aligo. Law graduate of the University of Montreal, she also holds a J.D. in common law as well as a Master's degree in Law from McGill University. Before joining Aligo, she worked in a private firm in Montreal in civil and corporate law and at the Centre of Genomics and Policy of McGill University within the fields of health and biotechnology law.

Duc holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from École Polytechnique de Montreal and an MBA in Marketing and in Managing SMEs from HEC Montréal. He has spent more than twenty-five years with multinational companies in the fields of petrochemistry, textiles, food, and software. He designed a Supply Chain Management system on a North America scale and led teams in its implementation in more than 50 factories. He then turned to the world of SMEs as Director of Product Integration for computer systems before joining Valeo as Director of Commercialization, which he held for 12 years. Here he gained commercialization experience in a diversity of areas: industrial biotechnology, medical equipment, aerospace technologies, software, electronics, communications infrastructure of computer networks, signal processing, and process equipment. In addition to licensing innovations, he participated in the establishment of several spin-offs, including YD3, 3DSemantix, Noviflow, Miad, and B & FRP.

PRIYUM KOONJUL

Priyum joined Valeo Management in 2006 as director of commercialization in life sciences and has remained in this role with Aligo. She is in charge of the commercialization of technologies ranging from biotech to nutraceuticals and cosmeceuticals. She worked as a sales representative for 5 years for Biometra (Cape Town, South Africa) – a company specializing in laboratory instruments – where she dealt largely with molecular biology instruments. Priyum has also worked in the management and transfer of intellectual property as a commercialization agent at UQAM. She holds a double major in Biochemistry and Microbiology and a BSc (Hons.) and a PhD in biochemistry from the University of Cape Town (UCT) in South Africa. She was a post-doctoral fellow in Human Genetics at UCT and in plant biochemistry at IRBV (University of Montreal). In 2006, she completed an internship with Réseau Interval.

CATHERINE GAGNON

Catherine has worked over ten years in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry, with experience in early development projects. Prior to joining Aligo, she was responsible for the corporate development activities for Angiochem where she was managing the various business development and partnering activities as well as overseeing the IP activities. She has also managed the manufacturing development of various molecular classes (small molecules, peptides, proteins, radiolabel) and therapeutic areas including oncology, endocrinology, and analgesia. Prior to joining Angiochem, Catherine held progressive positions during a 7-year period at ConjuChem Biotechnologies Inc. She received her M.Sc. with honours in Chemistry in 2000 from the Université de Montréal.

NADIA CAPOLLA

Ph.D.

Nadia obtained a Ph.D. in Physics from Université Laval. She completed an industrial postdoc in optics in a start-up company specialized in photonics. For about 20 years, Nadia has worked in the photonics industry in roles such as : researcher, R&D director, and as director of a diffractive optics lab. She has also been a consultant for an important Silicon Valley laser company. Nadia worked for NanoQuébec for 2 years and has recently written a book to introduce nanotechnologies to the general public, published by Éditions MultiMondes. She joined Aligo in January 2016.¬

Philippe has completed with distinction a formation of Engineer in Nanotechnology at Waterloo University. During his studies he has done various R&D internships at McGill University, Teradata Corporation, National Research Council Canada and Sunnybrook Research Institute. Diploma in his pocket, he joined Air Liquide Canada as a Junior Engineer to be soon promoted as Project Engineer. Always eager to embrace new challenges, his next step was to accept an offer from PRIMA Québec where he was entrusted with the implementation of R&D collaboration agreements between enterprises and research centers, while following a complementary Innovation Management formation at ÉTS. It is the benefit of this new expertise in Technological Transfer that he’s chosen to offer Aligo Innovation as of May 2015.
